Alexa is a national touring singer-songwriter based in the St. Joseph, MO area.  Alexa has performed throughout the midwest for over 14 years at clubs, festivals, college campuses, and private events, as well as on TV and radio.

Alexa currently performs with a bluegrass and gospel group called Emergency Exit playing for small town country churches on Sunday morning, providing music for hometown events, and running a monthly acoustic jam in Dearborn, MO. Though her time on stage has slowed with three babies at home, she continues to enjoy singing and writing music, specifically for her new christian children’s book series project.

Through the years, Alexa has gone by a couple “stage names,” releasing two albums under the name Alexa Whipple, and two more under the name Alexa Kriss.

Most recently Alexa worked with Ordinary Sounds studio in Des Moines, IA on recording her newest original songs released July 2017.  The latest EP, entitled Greater Height, is rich in bluesy grooves, tasteful rock elements, and 80’s pop synth and melodies.  A haunting banjo and emotional lyrics about faith and finding your place bring you to tears in the heartbeat of “Stranger.” Get your adrenaline soaring with the indie rock beats of “Rush,” sing along with the barbershop style backup vocals to the slightly quirky love song “I Do,” and listen as the music becomes a party with an uncontrollable urge to whistle and move in “Dark Place.” Following the release of Greater Height, Alexa set out on 5 weeks of tour promoting the new music and closing summer 2017 as a support act on the 10 Years of Alli and I Tour.

Alexa released her debut singer-songwriter EP and several music videos in 2015.  Recorded and produced in Nashville with Steve Ivey of IMI studios,  Alexa's self-titled EP features 6 one of a kind songs with an all original sound of pure vocals and rock inspired pop tunes. Alexa Kriss credits her unique musical style to a variety of influences from Celine Dion, Alanis Morissette, Sheryl Crow, Walk the Moon, The Beatles, Dave Matthews, The Scorpions,  and a heavy impact from 80’s pop.
